Nekede student being harassed and was beaten to state of unconsciousness

*SOLIDARITY MESSAGE AGAINST POLICE HARASSMENT ON STUDENTS*
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

*The Students Union Government led by the President, His Excellency Comrade Ambassador Ezeh Chukwuebuka Ebenezer is standing in solidarity with the agitation of the Nigerian students against the arbitrary harassment and assault on the students by the Nigerian Police.*

*He is also standing firm with the school management's drastic measures of curbing the menace and security officers excesses. As the officer and patrol team who allegedly battered a Mass Communication (Evening) student by name Cajetan Okereke, on 16th of March, 2020, has been apprehended and detained.*

*Cajetan was said to have been beaten to stupor by the alleged officers. A beating that led him to the state of unconsciousness and he was rushed to a hospital where he has regained  consciousness.*

*The President is hereby informing the general Nigerian students that Cajetan is relatively stable now and he is responding to treatment as the school management has intervened immediately. Therefore the students should be calm and avoid unnecessary panic because the matter is under control.*

*The Students should be rest assured that the President is doing everything within his power to bring the perpetrators of this crime to book. The President will eagerly take the necessary actions to avert such situations in future.*

*"I and my team responded promptly to the emergency, we were there with him at the hospital to ensure his revival which he has gotten. Thanks to the medical personnel! I will also be readily available to respond to such situations because the safety and protection of life of the students is my top priority," the President said.*

*In his words, the President said, "the students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri are law abiding citizens of Nigeria and peaceful set of people, and as such, I call on the entire students to remain calm and avoid violence or revolt. The students should trust the appropriate authorities who are taking the necessary actions to arrest the situation at hand."*
